Late last year we were thrilled to be informed that we had been successful
in receiving certification in our first module of the Resource Smart
Program. Through work on environmental policy development and behavioral
change in our school, we completed the Core Module and we will soon
receive our first of the 5 sustainability stars for this.

We are also close to completing the second module which is the Waste
Module. Two important initiatives that have been part of this work include
introducing our 3 bin system and wrapper free policy. We would like to
remind families that St Peter’s is wrapper free everyday. We strongly
encourage all students to bring their recess and lunch in containers or
snap lock bags which can be reused. Students are not permitted to take any
items that cannot be recycled or composted out of the classroom. If
students bring any wrapped items such as packets of chips or muesli bars
they will be required to unwrap these items, leave the wrapper in their
bag to take home again and carry their unwrapped food out side to eat.
We appreciate your support as we have already seen very positive results
in decreasing the amount of litter in our school, as well as the amount of
landfill we are generating.
